Ardent Nova

Unacceptable packaging by vendor, misleading product description, possible old model
Product arrived in a box that had no packaging for protection so peace of mind of the performance of the delicate electronics vital to controlling the unit is compromised. The silicone sleeve box was also damaged / ripped further enhancing concerns with the product handling quality. Also, I received the Lift, not the Nova. From what I understand these might technically be the same, and the Lift may be discontinued. I ordered the Nova and nowhere on the product description did I see it mention the Lift.Which leads to my final point; the model number is AD1, which leads to speculate that I may have received an old (the first) model. Not cool if I did as the product has been around for a few years and I ordered a contemporary item that has been through the kinks, not a first run model. Will very likely return and purchase directly from Ardent.

MELTED first time I used it, shoddy and definitely not worth the money
I followed all the directions, did not overfill the decarboylator, plugged it in, and started it by pressing the Ardent button, as instructed. Less than 40 minutes later, my boyfriend came to get me because the entire side of the Ardent was warped and melted from heat. It was scorching hot to the touch, and had NOT turned itself off! This is a "smart" device, meaning you plug it in and it manages the heat situation internally- I didn't have the option to set any temps or times. The entire machine is destroyed from overheating and it ruined the inside sleeve which was warped and melted. Our house smells awful and we had to sit it outside on the deck it was so hot even after we unplugged it.

DISAPPOINTING
The ease of decarbing my herb and making small batches of tinctures drew me in. I found my cannabis almost burned and didn’t note any difference in potency. Vaping it was unpleasant and made me cough. In addition I found the item very poorly designed. The silicone lid does not seal as the alcohol in my tincture evaporated during processing. And cleaning is harder than it should be thanks to the silicone sleeve; which acts as a magnet for anything dry or wet so it must be cleaned with alcohol every time. (Why silicone and not glass?). The unit can’t be turned off manually: it must be unplugged and continues to heat even afterward. Trying to remove either of the sleeves to stop the heating is dangerous; yet there’s no cool down on the unit. Avoid this one, folks.

Ardent Lift only good for processing a small amount of herb at one time.
The Ardent worked fine for decarbing a small amount of herb. The information said you could decarb up to an ounce of herb. This is not feasible as the inside container will not hold an ounce of herb. The herb is not suppose to be tightly packed and the most herb I could get into the container was less than 1/2 ounce. This process takes a lot of time to decarb more than a small amount of herb. Also, the container that the Ardent came in had no bottom cover. I had to tape the top cover to the container so when I picked the container up the machine wouldn’t fall out. Poor packaging design.

Ardent Nova Decarboxylator
This unit works well and when using it properly it doesn't have any smell. This was a big reason I purchased it.

BUYER BEWARE!
Worked ok for the first 4 tries. Dead as a doorknob after that. Red light comes on but no heat and no change to green ever. Also the silicone sleeve and cover had a horrible chemical smell that would not go away, can’t see how this is food grade material. Do yourself a favor. Read the 1 star reviews and see how many of them have the SAME problem. The build quality of this product is utter garbage.

mbe2 makes a set for around $70...
when full, it didn't complete its task. i find it hard to believe, that based on video/youtube, mfr instructions, that if one had 16% cbd, one would decarb, 16 times. sound right to anyone else?

Game Changer
I’ve seen a lot of pros and cons regarding this little gadget. Is it REALLY necessary for a proper decarb? The answer is obviously no, as long as you have an oven and/or toaster oven and an oven thermometer you don’t NEED the Ardent Nova. However, if you are trying to be discreet and have no time to “babysit” your oven temperature then the Nova is for you. I have a friend who decarbs the traditional way and always complains about the lingering smell in her home. This most definitely takes care of the issue! I put half of an ounce of botanical material in the Nova, placed on the silicone lid, snapped the black lid into place and turned it on. I want to say it took about an hour and a half for the whole process. A set it and forget it kind of deal. There was a faint odor around the machine but as soon as I switched on a ceiling fan, the smell dissipated. The Nova most definitely kept in 98% of the smell. After I opened it up I got hit in the face with the botanical smell—totally night and day. The price tag will be a con for most people and the fact that it can only decarb one ounce maximum. But pros include: ease of use, ability to keep the smell under control and the discreet nature of the Nova itself (it looks kinda like a coffee grinder or high tech thermos). I highly recommend the Nova for people who may need to decarb often—those who are using botanicals for chronic pain management, as its one less thing to monitor and stress over.

Very pricey for what you get.
Have tried it a few times. It is convenient for sure. Haven't lab tested the outcome of any infusions I have done with it. Easy to use. It however is not odder free there is still some smell when using it. The top cap is ok but a little cheap. Can't say how long it will last or how the support will be if it fails. In my mind it is way over priced for what you get.

You sent me the correct device but the Voltage was incorrect for Australia
It is very difficult to communicate with your organisation as I received the correct type of product but was unable to use it as it was not the correct voltage rating for Australia. So I have sent it back as there is no provision in your returns system to ask you to swap it for the correct Voltage version for Australia.
