great set for the money

I bought a set of these about 2 or 3 years ago here on amazon.com, and like all electronics they don't last forever. I did not review them at the time as i wanted to see how well they worked. The frequencies used for my set are also 191.something and 175.50 (I gave these frequencies as a confirmation to another review). They are a great set of wireless microphones, easy to set up, easy to use. I am going to purchase another set here shortly. The only downside to the microphones is that they were not real secure on the base, which can potentially cause the batteries to not charge completely, but I fixed that by wrapping decorative tape around the base of the microphone, but when I spoke to others who bought this set they had the same issue. The only downside to the base itself is the antennae were loose, but when I spoke to others who bought this set, again they had the same issue so I think it is a factory thing. They can take being dropped somewhat, without sound quality being comprised, but there is immediately physical damage shown. Keep in mind you do get what you pay for and these are not Shure microphones, however for the price, they are an awesome purchase. I had minimal feedback issues and the batteries enclosed charge within an hour or two, but my set didn't start having problems until the last couple of weeks, and I had issues with microphone #2 (freq 175.5) not working. However I have had very good luck with these so I will be purchasing another set.

For the price, I think it is great.

I bought it because it has great reviews.Pro:-- No drops; no noises or interference; like everyone else said.-- Hold's battery charges well.-- Priced rightCon:-- Feels light. Can they add more metal to beef up the image?-- The color rubber bands to identify mic is a failure in design. They easily come off and not sure how long the rubber bands will last.-- More importantly, I compared it with my wired mic from Radio Shack (not top of the line, just a good $40 lined one). The sensitivity was higher - in fact it picks up a lot of breathing sound from your mouth whereas Radio Shack one picks up none; also at the deep voice level below 100 Hz, the Radio Shack one seems richer. I noticed the range of this mic is rated 80 hz and up, and the RS one is 50 and up-- The Ni-Mh batteries provided are 1000 mAh. The top of of the line in the industry is 2000 mAh and above. So they could be better.-- Compared to my neighbor's old ARK VHF wireless - the ARK was clearly better. So I am not quite sure if I'd keep it. I may want to spend a little more to get better ones - perhaps those rated 50hz and above; but the more expensive ones does not have rechargable unit.I am going to invite a semi-pro to come to my karaoke party this week then decide if I should return it to get a more expensive one.Okay after the 'pro' review and comparison to older ARK VHF ones, this is okay for voice and amateurs. Not good enough for dead hard K-pros. I could careless but if they think it is not good enough, I need something better for them to come to my party.

great.

Good sound quality, take a lot of abuse well. The "skin" of the mic feels great in the hand. Excellent range. Solid construction.Would be nice if one didn't have to be so meticulous about making sure the mic is off when set on the cradle, but it's not THAT big a deal.Verdict: I like them, and recommend them highly.EDIT: Why is it so hard to make a battery cover that won't fall off and disappear? Why? WHYYYYYYYYY??? (great mic's though...)

Not Great Quality but Good Bang for the Buck

I was greatly apprehensive about this inexpensive set of microphones so I also bought a more expensive set as a backup and for adults doing karaoke (if that ever happens lol). To my amazement they worked very well. Now, would a band want to use this style of microphone...no. These work well enough and for the home or karaoke bar crowd these will work fine. These mics recharge in the base and will have a red light when charging. The quality is decent but no more but that is expected at this low price point ($72 at the time). The on/off slide button is a bit suspect but hasn't broken yet. the battery cover of one tends to pop off but then can be remedied by putting it back on or adding tape which I haven't done yet. I plugged them directly into the Yamaha 150 Pro system and then got the frequencies figured out and worked within minutes. The box is solid and the antennas adequate. The range was at least a couple hundred feet and noticed no interference but only a few houses were within range to interfere. While these have dropped a few times, it has been on carpet and a hard drop on concrete probably would be the death of one.Karaoke party these survived an onslaught of six year olds much to my surprise. Now the four stars I give for price and usefulness. It was my kids that I thought these wouldn't last. These have been a blessing and a curse...while a great fun for my kids just how many times can you really listen to "Do You Want to Build a Snowman?" by a 4 and 6 year old?! It's cute the first 100 times. In short, if you want a great mic spend 10x the amount. If you are on a budget or want a disposable set that you won't freak out if your kids or drunk friends drop and it breaks then get these.

Great for karaoke

So know that these aren't professional grade wireless microphones but they work very well for any amateur karaoke needs you might have. We have these setup in a large party barn and the range, clarity and battery life are great. The battery covers do fall off and don't stay on...a couple turns of black electrical tape took care of that. Not perfect but you will have a blast using these for karaoke and won't stress out if someone drops one.
