Is It Worth It? (Sewing Edition)
This book has a very high rating and it SHOULD. This book is beautiful and the garments presented are truly works of art. No other book has inspired me to buy some Indian Chintz Fabric so fast as this one. The details are up close the only problems I have with this book is that some of the pictures are from a profile view and the front and back are not shown. The other problem I had was so few items from the 50's :( (I know its not a book dedicated to the 50's but I love that era ).Even with those in mind I would not hesitate to purchase this book again at a higher price point.. I would have really REALLY liked to see some garments by the infamous Olga Nikolaevna Bulbenkova, one of the creators of those wonderful Russian court gowns sported by the Romanov (Last Imperial Dynasty) family to hold the throne. Is it worth it? Yes

Size matters people! Beautiful, but on the small side.
I was expecting more of a coffee table size book. I should have read the description closer. This book is thick, and the content is stunning. However, I was hoping for a book centered mainly on photography, and it is. I would have expected the pages to be much larger. The book is beautiful, but the size just doesn’t do it justice. Sad, it could have been five stars.

Smaller than a “Coffee Table Book” , but photography of details makes up for it.
Smaller hardback (6”x8”x1.5”), not a “Coffee Table Book”, but well-bound and easy to hold. This is a picture book of The Collection of the Kyoto Costume Institute. The photography is gorgeous and there are many close-ups of details of the garments, & photos of accessories such as 18th century fans, 20th century shoes, French stomachers, corsets, etc. Men, women, and some children’s fashions are included. The oriental influence is highlighted throughout, especially in the early and late 20th century. The garments are mostly English and French.

Great book for beginners!
This book does a good job of giving the basic terminology of fashion through the 19th and 20th century. The fundamental fashion houses and their original designers are clearly stated in the book. I think there is a lot to learn solely from the collections in the back of the book. I would recommend reading the designers, fashion houses, and glossary before starting to analyze the clothes from the beginning.

I'm impressed!
For $8.31 this was a hell of a buy. Took a bit longer to get to me than usual, but I am very happy with this book. The book is jam-packed with beautiful, colored photos of antique outfits. The paper is good quality too despite the price. Even my roommate was impressed by both the price and quality of the book. I highly recommend buying this. It is very much worth more than its cost and makes for a very interesting and fascinating coffee table or library addition. Shout out to the seller!

Lots of great pictures
This book has lots of pictures of actual vintage clothing. I recommend this to anyone who is interested in seeing actual garments rather than drawings. It also has good descriptions of each one. I have several books on fashion history and this is one of my favorites. And while it has 645 pages with the index, it it about 8" x 5 1/2" making it easier to carry with me than my others
