Tales From the Arabian Nights: Stories of Adventure, Magic, Love, and Betrayal

Love this book. Classic tales from NY childhood with real wonderful illustrations. It's an excellent addition to my book shelf.

The book is BEAUTIFULLY DONE! The graphics are simply stunning! The stories are NOT for small children since they were written from the perspective of a different culture, (Arabian) and time. As a teacher, I suggest they would be best read aloud and used as a conversation starter. I gave it to my two teenage grandsons after traveling to Egypt with them and seeing a "magic lamp" just like the one Ali Baba had in the stories. I had a similar book a child, and still remember the impact it had on me.

Illustrations were beautiful. Stories a little more intense than I remembered. Bought this for a 4 year old but not suitable until a much older age. It will be put up for a few years. Actually, I just might read it myself.

I did a bit of research before buying an Arabian nights book for my kids I wanted something that I could use to tell bedtime stories. This book is very well written, with kids in mind and keeps the momentum going. This is a great classic, worth reading it to kids.

I haven't read these in many, many and while I remember , some are different others not remembered at all...still enjoyable!!! Very quick read. Well written and fun.

The stories are interesting to me (Grandma) and to my 11 year old grandson. It is always nicer when you can enjoy the books you are reading aloud. The illustrations are magnificent and I'm actually excited to take a break from his home schooling and read this delightful book to him ( and myself!)

This is a beautiful book - definitely buy it in hardcover, if you do, - the Kindle version is not worth it in my opinion, because it is super short. The Nights skip from 24 to 51, and the tales are also extremely short.Not sure what age this is appropriate for - heads sliced off and characters inviting to "roll on the ground" - definitely not younger than 15, IMO.Like the comments on the sides explaining some of the facts about the Muslim culture of the time, but I just wish it was all more elaborate and detailed.

It's a beautiful book that we gave to a three-year-old for his parents to read to him. It has explanations of cultural implications in the margins so it should entertain on up into school years. It's by National Geographic so you can be assured that the bias toward Muslim culture is ever present. Nevertheless, the evil in the stories abounds enough to adequately counterbalance the bias - and perpetrators get what's coming to them.
