One of my fav solo play board games
Complicated game, but so much fun to play. Watch play-through videos, ask questions on BGG, never hesitate to reread rules. It’ll start to click after a few gameplays! Some of the figures came in bent, but it’s ok. I don’t mind it. Just a fyi

Fiddly but excellent
If you're accustomed to playing 2nd ed Descent where an app does all the thinking for you, stay away from this game. The rule book isn't terribly well written and you'll find yourself frequently on the Board Game Geek forums talking to the Sword & Sorcery designers to clarify rules. that being said, I've dealt with much worse rulebooks. Once you get the rules though, the game is brilliant. Immersive, innovative monster AI, and classic player characters make this my go-to dungeon crawl. I was so happy to have a new dungeon crawl that wasn't a euro style resource management game. I'm an adult. All I do is resource management! After the daily frustrations of real world resource management, I wanna go into a fantasy world and kill bad guys! S&S allows me to do just that.

Absolutely awesome game. The story is great
Absolutely awesome game. The story is great, choices you can make affect the story and gameplay. Excellent combat system, and the game system ensures that each play through is completely random. Don't be intimidated by the 54 page rulebook. Many examples are given throughout, and for any other questions, the boardgamegeek forums are very helpful, with inputs from the game designer himself. As for the minis, they look great. Mine came a little bit bendy in some parts (one of the character's swords was curved like a scimitar), although dipping them in hot water straightened them out. All in all, 10/10 game, as long as you don't mind reading the lengthy rulebook!

A cooperative dungeon crawler
Sword & Sorcery is a one to five player adventure game that gives a good story and player advancement. The characters that the players have to choose from each have particular skills and abilities that allow each player feel unique. The base game allows players to level up four times with several new abilities to choose from. When choosing a character the players must make a choice of being lawful or chaotic. This changes some of the abilities they get to choose from, but also it forces some story choices in the game to be made as being chaotic will not allow them to be lawful, and vice versa. The rule book can feel cumbersome as there are a lot of rules to remember, but a reference sheet help with remembering some of the smaller rules. Even though the rules can be overwhelming, when players start playing the game they will quickly realize what they should consistently remember. So, one player can spend their time remembering the more unique rules for the other players. The difficulty of the game changes with the amount of players in play. This difficulty never makes the game impossible to defeat as players can figure out how to get around monster abilities or strengths. Monsters, when activated, follow a monster card that dictates whom they will attack and what kind of attack it will be. Since these monster choices are public information, players can figure out best to avoid powerful attacks or the monster itself.A standard turn in this game is players choosing freely the turn order of each player. What a player can do is dictated by the level they are currently at as each has a dial that shows the amount of actions and combat actions they can do. A player is allowed one movement which their speed is based on the character chosen. When moving players will encounter shadow markers that will flip to show an image of a monster, villager, or whatever was put into the game by the current story. If it is a monster, a monster card is flipped to show which monster is appearing. The player moving can choose to engage the monster with a combat action. Depending on the character chosen this can be a long range attack, or a close quarters one.In combat players will choose the equipment they will attack with and choose to activate any additional abilities. Combat is a simply dice roll that uses either red, blue, or both kind of dice. The red dice is the strongest while the blue is really for defense rolls. Overall combat is straightforward with the exception being that a player needs to remember that outnumbering the monster can lead to a bonus in the attack, or spending an action can also add to the attack. The story in the game shows what monsters to involve on the current map, how to build the event deck, and identifying what areas of the board will move the story forward. Players can die in the game, but they can also return to the game by spending a soul stone equal to their level. Soul stones are experience points that the players will collect to level up their character, so dying will affect the players ability to get more powerful. At the end of all the players turn a monster activation card will be flipped. This card will cause certain monster types to activate, to be spawned, or sometimes nothing at all. After this players will flip an event card. An event card is flipped over when one is not available, and if one is available it is simply discarded. This means that an event card is played every two rounds. This is good because the deck is the time marker for players and they need to complete the mission before the deck runs out.The game has a story line that can cause players to become invested, but it is also just a good dungeon crawler for players who just want to fight waves of enemies. There are seven story missions in the game that are involved and give story elements that can change outcomes of the story and missions. The quest book gives setup, but story elements are in a separate booklet so players can avoid spoiling the story. If players do enjoy themselves, their are two additional expansions for side stories and advancement of the main quest. There are also additional characters that can be purchased to give more variety to player choices. There is plenty in this base game that gives several hours of game play and replay ability. It is a great board game that will allow players to have strategic or off the cuff fun.

One of the best dungeon crawler games I've played in a long time probably since Heroquest.
It's already hit the table about 3 times in 1 week and the reviews are in. Keep it on the table. It's one of the easiest, smoothest dungeon crawler games that I've played.Character customization is nice, options are good. Not many options in monsters to fight, but I changed out some of the miniatures from Conan to capture the true spirit of Sword and Sorcery.(I personally like low fantasy in my S&S)I like how the game handles death, shopping for gear is fun. Rulebook is thick but most of it is easy to understand. Do yourself a favor and download the double sided cheat sheet from BBG and you'll have a easier learning experience. Some of the youtube videos are too long and they screw up trying to teach it but if you're a visual learner it doesn't hurt to watch set up and the initial turn sequences.

Great Game
Aside from some miniatures bent the game is awesome. Nice Dungeon Crawler, me and my group played the game from 12PM to 3AM almost non stop. Be advised, the rules are heavy, so many things going on and so many rules to have on mind

Great Dungeon Crawler
This game is strategy rich with cool dice and components. Success is determined by planning and strategic play. The luck factor is low. Only negative is that there are tons of rules and modifiers to master but once you get used to gameplay it will move at a fast pace.

Great old school dungeon hack
It's a good game. While it can be played alone with taking control of several characters, it is best played with at least one friend.
