Nice modern clean look and good function

I love these locks. They are exactly what I wanted and more. I've only had them installed for a couple of weeks but they are working well. I like that they are Wifi enabled and don't depend on some other connectivity in the middle.I took my time to install these and I recommend you do the same. If the lock pocket is not clear so the mechanism can move properly the battery will likely wear out quickly. I spent a good 30 min manipulating my door frame with a chisel and a dremel tool to get it perfect. So far since I did that I've had zero issues with the lock working as expected. The actual install instructions are very well done. I like the included thickness guides. Just follow it step by step and it should go well. Initially you connect to the lock with your phone via bluetooth. This works fine and the lock can work this way indefinitely. The magic comes when you add the extra module. It includes Wifi and the best part is the magnetic sensor. The lock walks you through calibrating the sensor and once done it can tell you the status. It's open/closed, locked/unlocked. In addition to this I like the look and feel. I really hate the membrane type button locks on the market. I wanted a button I can see and feel and these have that. These are flat round buttons that light up so you can see them in the dark. The overall look is modern and clean.I do have two small functional complaints. First, I don't like that I have to hit a check mark button after I put in the code to activate the action. I would prefer if it activated as soon as the last digit of the valid code was entered. Second, while it looks nice the logo button activating the lock function is not clear. Put the logo above it and put a lock icon on it so it's clear. Minor complaints though. I really like the locks overall and unless I run into some unseen issue I will continue to buy these for my needs.

Great lock for Smart Home Automation

I bought two of these, one for my entry door and one for the back door. I am on a let's make our home a smart home kick right now. Part of that is I want to eliminate all keys except for my vehicle key fob. And, it is also important for me to use one application to control my home, in my case, I am using Apple Home - therefore to some degree HomeKit compatibility is important. This review is about the the installation, lock itself, the Yale Access App, and HomeKit integration. After looking at a lot of locks I landed on this one, the Yale Assure Lock 2 with Wi-Fi. It looks nice, it is keyless, and it is HomeKit compatible.INSTALLATION: Installation was a breeze for me. I am replacing existing keyed deadbolts. So no need to align a door to a frame. The lock itself easily installed in the existing cutouts. I didn't even need to replace the door frame strike plate as my old one works fine. I found the instructions easy to follow, the lock installation of the physical device/lock took me about 15 minutes, most of that was just making sure I did it per the instructions.THE LOCK: At first my thought was this is a $200+ deadbolt and in my head I was comparing it to a normal deadbolt. This is absolutely the incorrect view. This is a computer that has a physical deadbolt it controls. When thinking like that the $200+ price tag is not all that bad. I would say good value for the money. The only criticisms would be that the physical locking mechanism (thing that turns the deadbolt mechanism to extend it into the door frame) is a simple flimsy piece of metal, versus in normal deadbolts it is typically a non-square type of peg to do that job. I am unsure if this really matters at all though, as long as it does the job it is kind of who cares. Another criticism, which if you think about it, would really be an unfair one, yet important to note, is the size of the interior part of the lock is HUGE (comparatively speaking) - reason for unfair - where would the batteries and computer portion go if it wasn't this big?YALE ACCESS APP: The working of the lock portion is good enough. The set up is horrible. You must watch (or scroll) through the installation instructions for each item, just to be able to set it up, would be much nicer to have a skip. My issue is that on one of them I had to do things more than once, and for my second lock, I knew it all already and just wanted to set it up. C'mon Yale, allow the "Skip".HomeKit INTEGRATION: There have been a lot of negative types of comments on this, which I don't understand because I easily added each lock to HomeKit. Scanning of the HomeKit QR code did not work on either lock, this has been commented on a lot with this reviews. For me, I merely manually entered the device IDs and it worked immediately without issue. Granted, you cannot scan the QR which is easier for sure, but not enough to rank lower. All in all, a great purchase IMO, could use some improvements, but really good just the same. Lock Feature rating is 4 stars due to what I comment on, I just expected better, not sure if better is necessary. Tech support I rated 4 stars, this is not by dealing with a tech support staff, it was the only place to rate the app and the setup issues I discussed.

Cheaply made. Loses settings for calibration. Breaks when inserting replacement batteries.

This product isn't worth your money. A few things have gone wrong with it over the 2.5 months of owning it. First pressing the Passage Mode button located on the inside near the turn spindle causes the device to lose the ability to auto-lock, after 30 minutes of playing with the app and the button to no avail, I ended up having to re-calibrate the lock to allow auto-lock feature to be enabled again. There is no way audible or visual, either on the lock or in the app, to determine what state the "passage mode" is in either on/off. Making this a up-hill battle to debug. Finally, the other day, the lock refused to unlock with the app and responded with an audible sad failure sound. It instructed me to change the batteries or re-calibrate. I recently had already added new batteries so I began re-calibrating it. Once calibration was complete the lock made the sad failure sound again but the app stated it was successful. Playing with this for another 4 or more times, I ended up calling the support line. They had me pull out the batteries to only find the cheaply made battery connection spring fell out on the floor. Started a replacement while on the phone to find out that it will be up to 10 business days or 14 actual days to get the replacement. Day 2 and still do not have a tracking code only a friendly reminder to use my "smart" widget on the new device. Given that it was more than 24 hours ago on that call and no tracking information, I suspect the rush to get this replacement for a $200 product is being just as cheaply managed as the product design team was with when designing it.Now, I am stuck leaving my home from an alternate door because the main entry door that is secured by this device is not functioning. Don't buy this product if you want to be able to access your home. Luckily this happened while my wife was home and was able to unlock the door for me otherwise, I would have to break the device off my door to enter it.
