They are thin and dry quickly. These are not the 100% cotton rip stop cargo you might be looking for. I have a few pairs of the older cotton ones that are thick and I on believe they make them anymore. If you are looking for a specific Carhartt pants and you have that pants in your closet. If you look at the tag, all of their different models have a serial number you can look up.

These do take a bit to dry. Material is durable and take a little more time than a pair of jeans

I Wash in Cold water. Now if I want to Shrink them I wash in Warm Water. If you wash in Warm or Hot Water they will get much smaller. Also I dry on Low.
