Money well spent!
I will start out by saying that this was my first purchase of an automatic litter box. Though I've had cats for 40 years of my life, I had never owned an automatic litter box before this one. For years I had actually considered purchasing one, but could never bring myself to spend that amount of money on a box that a cat uses as a toilet, and thought that I was just being lazy if I wasn't scooping the box myself. I finally gave in, and let me tell you, this thing is a game changer!I did extensive research before purchasing one and decided that I wanted to get an open rectangle box versus the round enclosed one. With all of the reviews that I read, I concluded that there is not a perfect automatic litter box without some sort of an issue. Some cats may be afraid of entering the round enclosed styles, not all of the waste gets emptied everytime, they cost more, and they are harder to clean. I figured that I would get an open box that is similar to a traditional litter box so that my cat doesn't get confused, and I wanted it to be easy for me to use and clean. I am not tech savy in any way, so I was also looking for a box that did not have to be set up and run through my phone. Just a simple, straightforward machine. Something more my language. This particular one had good reviews complementing everything that I was looking for, and I was really relying on those reviewer's honest opinions for my purchase. So thank you to all of the reviewers!I have owned this box for almost 2 months now and could not be happier with my purchase, and honestly wish I had bought one years ago! I can not express enough how much of a game changer this thing is! My house has never smelled better with cats living in it. All of us know that there is not any litter out there that can really combat that stinky kitty smell. And the hassle of rushing in to quickly scoop after every time your kitty goes, is just exhausting and not realistic. This litter box is a miracle worker at doing it for you and controlling the stench. It was very easy to setup and start using right away. And my cat was so excited to hop in and try it, it was like his new toy! He spent so much time in his new sandbox! He enjoyed scratching around to trigger the sensor, and then sitting by in amazement as he watched the robotic rake move back and forth over this amazing new sandbox. It was hilarious! Some things that I like about this box...Well I guess #1 is that my cat likes to use it and isn't scared of it, because of course that is most important.I also like that I don't have to be a brainiac to set this thing up and use it. I don't have to use my cellphone to control it, because I am just not a techy person, my wifi sucks in my house, and I personally don't need updates on how many times my cat was using his litter box and for how long.I like that I can set the timer to 1, 5, 10, 15, or 20 minutes to run after my cat has triggered the sensor. I have it set to 5 minutes so that it gives the litter enough time to clump, but feel that it is fast enough so that the stinky poo smell doesn't spread throughout my house.I can not believe how well this has controlled the stinky kitty smell in our house! After 5 minutes it scoops everything and dumps it in a covered drawer that traps in all smells.I like that it is so easy to take completely apart and clean, I do a good scrubbing once a week. I take it outside, hose off the pan and rake, scrub them down with and old brush and a little bit of soap, give them a good rinse, and then towel off as much water as I can and let it completely dry before putting it back together again. This comes with bags for the drawer that are easy to pull out and tie off to throw away, keeping you free from touching any waste. The sensor works great at detecting when my cat has entered the box and starts the countdown to scoop. Sometimes my cat will go back in the box while the rake is already in action scooping and it will sense my cat, stop, and move away from him to let him do his buisness in peace.I could still get a good night's sleep after purchasing this litter box and spending the amount on it that I did. I really feel like I bought a good quality machine that has been life changing, and it was worth every penny. Now on to the negatives...No, this litter box is not perfect.Sometimes the clumps of pee will get broken apart by the rake and it will leave little chunks behind, I just keep a scoop on hand and do a light cleaning at the end of the day. And sometimes the pee gets stuck to the plastic pan, especially because my cat likes to squat in the same spot of the litter box. But this is all common in regular litter boxes too, and hence the weekly washing I do.Sometimes poo gets squished and stuck to the rake and smeared on the sides, but I just knock it off with the litter scoop and will wipe up any mess with a damp paper towel. The litter box is usually very quiet when scooping, except for when my cat kicks litter up on the track that the rake runs along, and then you get a louder grinding noise while it runs across the litter crushing it. I just keep an old powder makeup brush on hand and brush off any litter from the track when it starts getting noisy. And making sure to keep the litter filled below the max fill line helps in keeping the litter from getting kicked up so much.A litter mat comes with this litter box, which is nice to include, but it is a pretty small mat as you can see in the pictures. My cat was just jumping over this small mat to avoid stepping on it and was tracking litter everywhere his little paws desired, and this completely defeats the purpose of the litter mat. Now these types of litter mats are great at trapping litter and helping to stop litter from being tracked all over the house, so I purchased some larger ones and surrounded the litter box with them so that my cat couldn't jump over them. Now most importantly!!!Be mindful that the power button is located on the top of the litter box, and the button can be stepped on and turned off! So my recommendation is to position the litter box so that your kitties do not exit the litter box in the direction of that power button. I made the mistake of having the side with the power button as an option to exit on, and my cat stepped on the button and turned the power off so it wasn't scooping. This just so happened while we were away on a weekend getaway and weren't home for a few days. Fortunately my cat was still able to use it like a traditional litter box, and I had also set up a regular litter box just in case, thank goodness. I just had a good amount of scooping to do when we got back home. I have now learned my lesson and positioned the litter box so that my cat can only exit one of two ways, and one not being over top of that power button. You can see in the pictures that I have it set up in a corner so that hopefully my kitty won't do that again.I can't recommend this litter box enough, I really am very happy with it! I hope that my review is helpful in some way. Thanks for reading!

Highly recommend this product!
This litter box is amazing. We have had other electronic litter boxes for over a decade, and we were struggling with messes, jammed up litter rakes/electronic arm, noisy boxes, and wasted cat litter. This litter box has been the answer to all of our concerns. It is quiet, it cleans the box efficiently, it does not jam, and it does not waste the cat litter. It is made for multiple cat use, and we have 3 cats using it, including a 20 pound male Rag Doll. We have been using it for over a month now, and it has not jammed once. Our Rag Doll used to cause our old litter box to get stuck on a weekly basis. Plus, the litter does not get dumped all over the place like our old box used to do, saving us money on cat litter, plus the time that it used to take to clean up all the spilled litter near the catchment. With our old litter box, we used to have to unplug it when we were going to be away for longer than usual, so that the sound of the arm getting jammed would not bother our neighbors (that is how loud the sound was). With this litter box, not only is it whisper quiet all the time, it also does not jam like the old box. My husband, whose daily chore is cleaning the cat litter box, says that we are going to use all the money that we save on cat litter to buy a second S6 Self Cleaning Cat Litter Box.Although I cannot speak to the ease of cleaning the box (because the hubby is doing that), I can say that the hubby is complaining much LESS now, and he is finishing the job in under a minute. With the old box, it took a lot longer and was a lot more work for him.

Not perfect, but less work than a normal litter box
My 3 cats have been using this litter box for almost 4 months now and I’ve had minimal issues. I was really nervous after reading issues people have had and seeing that the item is frequently returned but I decided to give it a try anyway. After all, it’s much cheaper than a litter robot. No automatic litter box is 100% hands free, you’ll always have to clean something. Litter gets stuck to the floor frequently so I have to scrape the bottom of the box every week or else the rake can’t move through the litter and an error message will pop up. I also had an issue with the noise but I found that the noise isn’t an issue when you make sure the track doesn’t have any litter trapped in it, so I’ll clean that every week too. Other than that, I’ve had no issues.I’ve never owned an automatic litter box before, but I can say with certainty that this one is much less maintenance than non-automatic litter boxes.

BEST replacement for Littermaid!
About a year ago I went on a quest to replace my dead Littermaid box which lasted me 6 years and sadly are no longer manufactured. The closest thing I could find was a box by PetSafe. I had two of these and both ended up with the same problem - the rake would go back and forth over the last two inches of the box. It got more and more difficult to reset. Rather than get a manufacturer replacement the second time (both were under warranty), I went on the hunt for a more reliable box.I got this one. I've had it a little over two months and it operates with no problems. With 6 cats in my house, it gets a workout! The "pedal" is a little difficult to snap into place at the hinge, but that's a minor issue. This is a great replacement for the Littermaid and even has some improvements to the design - Double raking, for example. The Petsafe box also wasted a lot of clean litter - Doesn't happen with this box. Highly recommend!
