Brilliant addition to any cupboard
This is a brilliant addition to my cupboard. Keeps so much longer and better than the jars of granules. These are tiny pieces of dried garlic and if you want a finer “dust” it can go in a pestle and mortar. I add it to so many more dishes than I used to because of its amazing flavour. Not the lowest of prices but by far the best quality. Have purchased others in the range and definitely worth it.

Useful
The pieces don't expand in the same way some dried veggies do but they are useful when you don't have fresh onions and are flavourful. The only real downside os the cost.

INITERIM REVIEW.
This is an interim review as I have not yet tasted the product. So far I can say that as an elderly cook living on my own I purchased this freeze dried spinach for convenience because I would not often have this product fresh and I also bought the onion freeze dried product. From the product description it claims to be a high quality product and I have no doubt that the quality claims and fully justified, so I will be buying the other freeze dried products in the JUX range. From the other reviews I have read I am expecting the taste to meet my expectations, In terms of convenience and versatility my rating is five star.

Great innovative product
A great product that's good to have on hand for cooking. Rehydrates straight away whether in water or oil. A little goes a long way so the pack will last a long time.

Orange rather than red and insipid flavour
I occasionally use tomato powder both as an 'emergency' supply and to make up a dry tomato mix (with dried herbs, garlic and onion powder, sweet paprika and seasoning) that I keep as a store-cupboard back-up and for camping, so I was keen to try out this tomato powder. I am also impressed by the aims of Jux food, and would like to try some of their other products. This dried tomato looks very like the listing picture: a pale orange, fine powder in a small plastic container. The container is sealed with a foil peel-off seal, and has a tight-fitting plastic lid. I tested this powder out by reconstituting it with filtered water to a loose paste consistency like a passata, then tasting it. It seemed to rehydate pretty quickly: within seconds, but I let it stand for an hour just to be sure it was properly rehydrated. For a start I was surprised by the colour: it was a bright carroty orange. Tomato powders I've used previously have always been a deep red, so I was curious about why this one is different. There's no indication on the pack about what variety (or ripeness) of tomato is used to make this powder, and it's left me with questions about the nutrient levels in the tomato powder compared with ripe, red tomatoes. In terms of flavour, it was disappointing. It was the flavour of tomatoes, but rather insipid - like the very cheap supermarket tomatoes that look ok but lack flavour. It will do at a pinch, but I wouldn't buy it again.
