Excellent addition!
I purchased this offline controller with the hope of using this instead of a PC in the shop. If you are not making changes to your design and you truly know where the carving is starting (to know where to 0 the 3 axis), then this is what you're looking for. Very compact, and very fast. As a side note, I wouldn't count this controller having an emergency stop, which you would have on your computer. Great addition to a CNC!

This item would be good if your CNC design/controlling computer isn't connected to the machine.
I gave this a 4 because it does what is described as it's function. The problem I found was that you can't have the USB from the computer connected at the same time to the control circuit of your machine. I've networked my computers so I design on one computer, create and test the code, then send it to the computer that controls the CNC machine. By doing this I avoid messing with micro SD cards. If you don't like networking and don't have an extra computer this will probably suit you needs.

Meets minimum requirements
Note that some listings are showing two completely different controllers in one listing as though they are the same. This review is for the white plastic version, black buttons with a 1GB SD card. The version with yellow buttons uses a 4GB SD card. For about twenty dollars the Genmitsu CNC Router Off Line Controller meets minimum requirements. It is useful for initial testing of your build and it can be used to operate 1610 to 3018 CNC machines off-line. Jogging works well. Except its use has many pitfalls: The controller defaults to 10mm movement which for a novice user can easily crash the machine. Take care to set movement to 0.1mm to start out then move up (ok/spindle->exit/step) once you know how it moves. The ancient 1GB SD card is extremely fragile. Best to leave it in the controller and connect the controller to your PC using USB 2.0 ONLY. Copy your G-Code ...nc to it via USB 2.0. There is a high chance of destroying the card by using USB 3. The card will be destroyed by attempting to format it. G-code interpretation in the controller seems to have trouble with comments. The controller must not be plugged into the CNC machine while it is connected to the computer and powered on.

Nice controller with one flaw!!
This is a nice little controller for GRBL. Does what it is supposed to, and works fine. It has one flaw. The spindle speed is set to max with no way to adjust spindle speed from the controller. This is a major oversight and I am unsure how it was possible to overlook.

Make sure you get this if you purchase the 3018 CNC router
This is a good, super easy to install and very inexpensive addition for the unit. It lets you do offline testing to make sure the unit is working properly, and it has other neat little functions that allows it to work without connecting up to a laptop/pc/server. Highly recommended.

NOT COMPATABLE WITH GENMITSU 3018 MX3
No where to plug this controller in. The 3018MX3 has a serial port for a hand held control wheel MPG.

Is apparently incompatible with GRBL 1.1F
I had to change the firmware of the Woodpecker 3.2 controller in my 3018 router from GRBL 1.1F to 1.1E to get this to work. this was not mentioned (of course there was no where to mention it as there was no documentation included. After this it does work quite well.
