My 8yo son loves this book series!
“Spooky, creepy, fun!” is how my 2nd grade son describes this book. Just like the other books on this series, it is written as a compilation of short stories that functionally read like a chapter book to a young reader. Some of the stories have a slightly “scary” twist, and at least one is just a funny and kookey ending. The tone is exactly like the other stories in the other books of this series. My son is a lover of Dog Man, Eerie Elementary, and Nate the Great, and devoured this book in one sitting. My other child would not have been a fan of this book because she is more sensitive to mystery and campfire scary stories, but my son loves this genre. The only thing that disappointed my kid was there is no corresponding AR test to this book series at his school, but he still begs to read the next book as soon as it’s released. He reads them purely for pleasure rather than needing to for reading points at school. I’d call that a win!

Instant hit with students
If the publishers are listening - we need so so many more books just like this. I have a following of young readers coming to me for more scary books. If your little reader likes scary books, this series is excellent. They are legit spooky, but I've got 1st-4th graders clamoring to read this little series. There is clearly not enough publishing focus on this genre for younger readers and I'm hoping this will help get more easy scary stories. I've replaced books in this series multiple times because they are so frequently read and reread. My only complaint is about the construction of the actual book because they aren't sturdy enough for all that rereading.

Great for Read Aloud
My Students love these books and will even grab them and read on their own. Definitely ordering more out of my own pockets lol.

Great for young readers who like scary books
I bought this for my 8yo daughter. She loved the 1st one, which I got her when she was 7. The stories are spooky, but not overly scary for my daughter. She is able to read these on her own and loves to read them to me in her "spooky" voice. :) The Mister Shivers books are among her absolute favorite books. I just bought her the 3rd one this morning.

Awesome reader
My son is 8. I can’t get him to read anything. Always a fight. He struggles with reading but these books helped him by keeping his interest all while helping him read unknowingly. Thankful for these “scary stories”

2nd grader enjoyed reading this
My 2nd-grade son really enjoyed reading this book. It was challenging enough for him that he needed some help, but mostly he was able to read it on his own. Some of the stories were more silly than scary, but all in all, it was a good buy.

Perfect spooky reader
My girls love these books. They are perfectly creepy and the illustrations are unique. A good little book set to read together. We thought they seemed spooky to spookiest from book 1 - book 3
