The lens was made in Thailand rather than Japan but it seems well made to Nikon standards. It works well and I'm satisfied with the various test photos I made in various lighting situations and ranges. In short, it does what I expected it to do.

This the craziest lens I have ever bought from Nikon.
Let me start by saying I’m going to keep this lens but it is crazy in it’s working. As a 18mm x 55mm zoom lens, I can get a great close up and also a great 55 mm shot. However, even though it is refurbished, the lens does not collapse as it should, I believe. I zoom in with the 18mm aspect, the lens extends, I zoom out at the 55mm setting and the lens extends the same distance yet never collapses at either setting. It seems to work at both extensions but why does it not collapse? It is a good lens so i’ ll keep it.

Great price great quality
Works excellent with my Nikon and really gives the range of a wide angle lense. Autofocus works well easy to use.
